The American Bald Eagle is the symbol of the United States. Roughly
thirty-years ago, our country's symbol was on the brink of extinction
due to threats such as poaching, poisoning, and habitat loss. However,
thanks to the passage of legislation such as the Endangered Species
Act and the banning of pesticides like DDT, the bird is making a comeback.
