The North American Mountain Lion is a secretive cat preferring the backcountry, far away from human interactions. However, intrusions into cougar habitat such as urban sprawl and off-road vehicles threaten their survival. The best hope for these regal creatures is changing public attitudes. In particular, a change in attitude that is recognizing the importance of Mountain Lions as a necessary part of the ecosystem.
